After having a breakout season like few others last season, ex-Monaco man Tiemoue Bakayako looks set to return to Ligue 1 and leave Chelsea behind. As one of just a number of poorly performing summer signings, Bakayako has failed to show the dominant form that seen him coveted by so many in Monaco.
Monaco, though, are hoping to bring their midfield titan back and revive a quickly falling career. Bakayako, 23, looks set to miss out on the France squad due to poor form and lack of opportunity. Just 25 opportunities and 4 goals/assists from the midfielder means there’s ample questions about his suitability to the Premier League.
Alongside Alvaro Morata and Danny Drinkwater, there’s a good chance that Bakayako could leave, too. The previous Midas touch in the transfer window appears to have evaded the Blues, and The National report a summer exodus will begin with the ball winning midfielder.
The France international suffered a knee injury prior to coming to Chelsea. This appears to have caused issues with his acclimatization into the Chelsea side, and has struggled to show his best form. With a summer exit seemingly more likely now, it looks like the ball winner could head back to France.
Monaco, who have enjoyed a good season without last season’ title winning success, are desperate to land him again. His amazing performances for Monaco mean he’s still held in regard by their manager, Leonardo Jardim. For Chelsea, Bakayako might become yet another failed transfer in an increasingly growing list.
