Having been one of the clubs top performers since his arrival, it would appear that Spurs are now moving at double pace to tie down star midfield maestro Dele Alli. He signed a new deal in late 2016, but it appears Spurs want to try keep him happy amid rumours of a potential move in the summer.
The Independent claims that Alli is set to see his wages doubled to around £100,000 per week. This would put him alongside the top earners in the club like Harry Kane. While chairman Daniel Levy has claimed that no major players will exit the club this summer, the move shows they clearly want to reduce the chances of that happening.
Alli, for his part, recently changed his representation and this has forced Spurs to act through fear of losing one of their most important players for under his value. While he’s not been at his true best this year, the youngster still has contributed an impressive nine goals and nine assists so far in just under 30 games, leaving him in fine form.
If Spurs wish to keep him, though, contract negotiations will need to move swiftly.
