In what has been a rather mental season for Everton, the summer window has seen the Toffees transformed. New signings have arrived by the boatload, with many coming with decent pedigree from afar. The likes of Sandro Ramirez and Michael Keane have arrived, bolstering a squad that looked frail and, frankly, outdated last season.
Now, though, the club is still on the lookout for a reliable playmaker who can help the club tick along. With Ross Barkley out the door at Everton due to not signing a new deal (and apparently completing his challenge at Everton, whatever that was) the Blues need a new #10. Iceland playmaker Gylfi Sigurdsson is the most likely, but Swansea demanding a fee of around €50m has put a halt on the deal taking place.
Reports claim that one final offer of players including the likes of Callum Connolly and a large chunk of cash is going to be submitted. While it’s unlikely to be enough to move the Swans on their position, the chances are that the deal will be finalized by the end of the summer.
Do Everton fans feel like Sigurdsson is worth the money being discussed?
A talented midfielder with an eye for goal and an ability to put them away with relative ease, from afar and from in the box, he would add much-needed firepower. Everton were profligate in midfield at times last year, and swapping out the flagging Barkley for Sigurdsson represents quality business.
