After the last few weeks, rumours have circulated that Manchester United star Paul Pogba and newly-extended coach Jose Mourinho do not see eye-to-eye. While Mourinho himself claimed that such claims are ‘bullsh*t’, there has been many rumblings in the press that the Frenchman is unhappy.
Subbed in losses to Newcastle and Tottenham to much dismay from both player and manager, there’s been information circulated that, if possible, Pogba would move on from Manchester. According to press speculation, Pogba ‘regrets’ choosing a return to Manchester over a move to Real Madrid, and would move on in the summer such is his frustration with Mourinho.
The 24-year-old has cut a frustrated figure at times this year, with an inability to find a compromise with Mourinho over his position and expectation in the side causing friction. While reports in England rejecting the claim that Pogba is unhappy are contradicted by claims made in the French press, the lack of consistency for both club and player is unlikely to help friction.
Unable to thrive in the system United play at present, there’s regular friction regarding the role that Pogba plays in the team and whether Mourinho can find a way to help unlock the true qualities of the Frenchman.
With an exit growing more likely, though, it does little to help reduce the tension around Manchester United’ season beginning to feel increasingly separate from what was hoped when the club signed numerous players to compete with Manchester City for the Premier League title.
