Two classical English giants owned by American owners. Both looking for a face to build their team around and a young star to make the primary focal point of the years to come. According to The Independent, Liverpool and Manchester United are set to go toe-to-toe for USA starlet Christian Pulisic.
The youngster has been a revelation since he broke into the Borussia Dortmund side in 2015, and has already been linked with major moves away. The link to ex-BVB coach Jürgen Klopp is obvious, as is Liverpool’ need for a new attacking player with the departure of Philippe Coutinho. The Reds have earmarked the American as a major target for the summer, so reports claim, but United are desperate to get in ahead of their rivals and poach the wonderkid for themselves.
While not at his best this season, Pulisic has been one of the few bright sparks for BVB, and can lay claim to being one of the few stars who has progressed despite the turmoil in the club. With a rebuild expected at all three clubs, though, BVB aren’t certain to even let him go. Who’ll get the American hero?
