In a transfer that once seemed impossible, it sounds like Thomas Muller could be out of his ‘home’ at Bayern Munich. With his relationship with Carlo Ancelotti not improving, only the exit of the Italian could see Muller likely stay at the club now. He once rejected a move to England, but reports swirling say that Muller might be deciding to change that moving forward.
A hugely talented and impressive forward, Muller has often been one of the most impressive players in the world since he broke through at Bayern. Now 28 and with no real position in the club, though, Muller was in indifferent form last year and the arrival of James Rodriguez means even more competition awaits.
As one of the star men under Pep Guardiola in the past, links with both Manchester clubs are apparent; but United are in pole position, according to various outlets. The Red Devils wanted him when previous coach Louis van Gaal was in charge, but failed in their attempts. With Muller no longer ruling out an exit from Germany, then, the chances of seeing Muller in Manchester have increased quite significantly falling his managerial fall-out.
Would United fans be happy to see Muller come in? With it forcing the likes of Juan Mata likely out the door, would fans be happy to see someone who has been so important under Mourinho move on? Either way, it looks like either Ancelotti leaves, or Muller will leave.
