Seen as a prospect bought for a touch too much cash, Anthony Martial has always been a precocious talent. The 22-year-old has gone about making good on that abundant quality this year, with a series of impressive performances likely to earn him a big payday – and a new long-term future in Manchester.
With Manchester United looking much better and in sync as a team, sticking around no longer looks such an odd choice. For a while, the Frenchman looked in need of a move away from Jose Mourinho, whom he appeared to clash with.
However, five goals in just eight appearances is a great return, and it looks to have been enough to win his trust and to get a new deal. With his deal expiring in the near future, tying him up on a new deal is a major priority.
It would appear that moves to the likes of Juventus will not be taking place, then. Martial looks more settled in Manchester than ever, and his clear bond with the club supporters is obviously playing a big role in his decision to stay.
As one of the best young players in Europe, it would be foolish of United to not try and keep him tied down. The Frenchman easily retains some of the best finishing skills in the squad, too, and offers United a pace that they would need to pay a huge amount to replace: renewal suits all parties present.
