After one of the most protracted and interesting transfer sagas of recent times, it would appear that Manchester City still are interested in Riyad Mahrez. According to the Daily Mirror, we could see the Leicester and Algeria man targeted again by Pep Guardiola and City.
With a seemingly £60m bid turned down late in January, and Mahrez going AWOL to try and force the move, there’s opportunity for this transfer to be rekindled. Having impressed for the Foxes after a stroppy post-title season, Leicester could be ready to cash in on a player who was quite happy to down tools.
City are interested in another wide player, and it would appear that they see plenty of potential in Mahrez. However, it is noted that City are seemingly concerned about Mahrez’ willingness to down tools and stop arriving at training afterward.
If he can get his head right and make the move happen on amicable terms, then he could be on his way back to Manchester. The rapid winger would naturally make an impression at the Etihad Stadium, but with competition from Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling, automation starts might be hard to come by.
Should City still want to make a move, though, all reports point to Leicester being open to a transfer then.
