As one of the best players in the English Championship, Aston Villa star Jack Grealish has stood out for some time. His technical ability and his capacity to see a tough pass makes him an immediate standout in British football. However, he’s been linked with moves away from his boyhood club more than once, with Tottenham Hotspur expected to come back in for him in. With the Villa securing promotion to the Premier League, though, that might be dead on its feet already.
Grealish, a born-and-bred Villa fan, has led by example and been among his teams best players in the 2018/19 season. A return to the top flight will see the club spend big in the summer, and also tie down their top players: Grealish among them. Despite the interest of a team in the UEFA Champions League Final, it would be strange to see Grealish move on with his club now back in the top-flight.
Despite his obvious potential, Grealish is yet to show his ability in the Premier League. Now would be the perfect time to do so; the last time he played in the league, his side were being relegated with a whimper. Now, he has the chance to show Villa fans that his ability on the ball is every bit as good at the top level of domestic football as it is in the competitive second tier.
Spurs fans, you might have to turn your attentions to another player: Grealish is very unlikely to move on from Villa this summer. Barring a season-defining offer, it sounds like any offers will be rejected out of hand.
