Having been one of the best players for Manchester United this year, 23-year-old Ivory Coast international Eric Bailly has been very important. Although he’s only played in 8 games, he’s weighed in with a goal and generally looked very impressive indeed.
However, he has missed eight games now for United and manager Jose Mourinho informed the press that it’s likely to be a long-term problem.
Speaking on Friday, Mourinho was clear that the problem was more serious than many would have expected, adding: “He goes to surgery, the decision is made,
“I don’t say [he’s out] for the rest of the season but it’s for the next two or three months.”
He will be a huge loss to United, having played a starring role in many of their games he has been fit for. With 8 appearances in the league and 2 in the cups, United have conceded a meagre 4 goals in the games he has played for them. For United fans, losing another key player after the long-term absence of Pogba will further frustrate their ambitions to continue to develop and grow into a long-term contender for a rampant Manchester City side.
