Ever since his arrival in West London, Eden Hazard has been amongst the best players in the Premier League. Back from a tremendous 2018 FIFA World Cup, it sounds like the Belgium international might be on his way to a new beginning. Rumours of an exit from Chelsea have existed for some time, but appear to be closer to completion now.
After finishing with a podium finish in Russia, Hazard spoke to the press after the game. He was quite candid about the potential for an exit from Chelsea, saying:
“After six wonderful years at Chelsea it might be time to discover something different,” the Belgium international said when speaking to HLN.
“Certainly after this World Cup. I can decide if I want to stay or go, but Chelsea will make the final decision – if they want to let me go. You know my preferred destination.”
While Chelsea fans will be sad to see one of their best players likely to move on, it does feel like a good time to move for all parties. Chelsea are in the midst of a rebuild, while Hazard appears to be a little disaffected by his present circumstance.
As one of the best players at the FIFA World Cup, he returns back to London knowing that he might be the choice to fill the Cristiano Ronaldo shaped hole in the Real Madrid attack. If he does leave, though, he certainly leaves a modern Chelsea legend.
