Despite being one of the best players in the Premier League, Belgium and Chelsea star Eden Hazard has never been shy of his admiration for La Liga. For some time now, the Stamford Bridge contract rebel has been heavily linked with Real Madrid.
According to the London Evening Standard, though, that might be changing. Reports claim that Madrid are a bit more put-off by Hazard given his drop-off in form. When the links were at their strongest, Hazard was in fine form and the player he was replacing, Cristiano Ronaldo, was ‘past it’ and headed for the exit at Madrid.
Given his 2018 rebirth and Hazard’ own drop-off, though, there is now a feeling in Madrid that Los Blancos have moved on to new targets.
With Hazard looking to make the most of his contract stand-off with Chelsea, and the Blues desperate to get him to sign up, this could change everything. The Belgian has been long distant about the chances of signing a new deal. However, with Chelsea yet far from assured of a Champions League place, he could decide to move on.
Without a goal in eight, Hazard must pick up the pace if he wishes for his dream move to Spain to come through. Although Manchester City were linked with the 27-year-old, Chelsea have previously made it clear that even a world record bid from a domestic rival would be dismissed.
His contract stance, though, is a major concern.
