In the middle of a mild squad rejuvenation, Chelsea look set to make some significant moves and rebuild their squad. With many names linked with an exit, it’s also likely that we could see a change of tact from an attacking point of view.
While Gonzalo Higauin might be coming in to replace Alvaro Morata, who looks set to depart back to Italy, Chelsae are in need of new wide options. One name being linked is that of Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey.
The Jamaican is a fantastic talent, and is widely seen as one of the most exciting talents in the Bundesliga. He’s a very impressive wide player, with dribbling skills and an eye for goal from afar. He would make an interesting signing for Chelsea, who appear intent on bolstering their options out wide.
With Willian likely to stay at Stamford Bridge now, too, it would allow them to add to their attacking numbers out wide without weakening the squad depth. With new coach Maurizio Sarri known to appreciate attacking wide players, he’ll make an impressive addition to a squad that is in need of youthful change.
With his ability to create from wide areas as well as score goals, Bailey would make an excellent choice for a Sarri side that needs energy and stamina across the season to work at its best. For Chelsea, though, the link with wide players makes it seem likely we’ll see a winger sign-up shortly.
